This trail provides a distinct perspective on the park's diverse natural beauty.
When you plan your hike on the Snake Bight Trail, remember that insects, especially mosquitoes, are common throughout the year, so pack bug spray and wear long clothing for protection. This preparation will help ensure a pleasant and uninterrupted exploration of the trail.

Embark on the Snake Bight and Rowdy Bend Trail Loop, a moderate 7.5 miles (12.1 km) hike through the diverse landscapes of Everglades National Park. You will experience tropical hardwood hammocks, coastal prairies, and mangrove shorelines, with a minimal elevation gain of just 1 feet (0 metres). This route offers a varied journey, taking approximately 3 hours and 2 minutes to complete.
Before you head out, be sure to prepare for mosquitoes, especially during warmer months; long clothing, a hat with a mosquito net, and gloves are highly recommended. This loop combines two distinct trails, providing a unique perspective on the Everglades. The Snake Bight Trail leads to a boardwalk offering sweeping views of Snake Bight, an excellent spot for birdwatching. On the more rugged Rowdy Bend Trail, you can immerse yourself in a wilder side of the park, with opportunities to spot wading birds, alligators, and even crocodiles in the canals.
