    Briccas – loop from Crissolo

The Briccas – loop from Crissolo offers a difficult hiking experience, covering 10.0 miles (16.1 km) with an elevation gain of 4158 feet (1267 metres), typically taking around 7 hours and 10 minutes. Your journey begins on an asphalt road, soon transitioning to a dirt path that winds through sparse birch forests. You'll then emerge into open terrain, characterized by wide, grassy slopes, sometimes following an ancient mule track. The ascent leads you to a broad ridge, culminating at the Briccas summit, often marked by a small cross. From here, you can enjoy spectacular panoramic views of the majestic Monviso group and many surrounding peaks, with vistas reaching Monte Rosa and Cervino on clear days.

This challenging loop requires good physical condition, sure-footedness, sturdy footwear, and some alpine experience. The trail typically starts from Crissolo or its hamlets like Borgo or Brich. While it can be enjoyed year-round, be prepared for winter conditions if you hike during colder months; snowshoes or crampons are often necessary. The Briccas is particularly popular for snowshoeing and ski mountaineering in winter, especially around March when the snow has been transformed by the sun.

The Briccas summit, sometimes called Trucchet, is known for its favorable sun exposure, making it a recommended winter destination. It sits on a ridge separating the Valle Po from the Val Pellice. Along the route, you might encounter old, abandoned shepherd's huts, locally known as "meire." This trail is notable for its extensive panoramic views, offering a unique perspective of the Alps that can extend to Monte Rosa, Cervino, and Gran Paradiso on clear days.
