The Frauenberg Church is the oldest church in Nordhausen and thus the oldest architectural monument in the city. The church was badly hit and almost destroyed during the British bombing raid on Nordhausen. In 2004 the Frauenberg area around the church was redesigned on the occasion of the Thuringian State Garden Show.

Hiking

The Frauenberg church "St. Mariae novi operis" is one of the oldest ecclesiastical monuments in the city. With its originally three-aisled Romanesque cruciform pillar basilica, it was first mentioned in documents around 1200.
