Hiking

Former watermill, with a possible origin dating back to the early Middle Ages (8th-9th century). Originally owned by Corbie Abbey, it later passed into the hands of the Mol Guardian, the Duke of Brabant, and subsequent princes; privately held after being sold in 1786. The initials A.S., on either side of a mill iron, and the date 1758 on a bluestone cornerstone at the bottom left refer to restoration work carried out at the time on the lock timbers and walls by mill tenant Adriaan Smolders.
