The torture is next to an old shooting range. Originally, a small oak crucifix crowned the torture and was marked with the inscription "A.H. 1919". Later it was replaced by a Latin cross made of iron. That too has been lost in the meantime. The term "red torture" could have been an indication of the original color of the torture. The lime colors, however, are completely washed out. (Voit 2007)
