Friedrichstadt, also known as “Little Amsterdam”, is a charming town in Schleswig-Holstein, founded in 1621 by Duke Frederick III of Schleswig-Gottorf. The town is characterized by its typical Dutch gabled houses and romantic canals, making it a unique destination.
A highlight of the town are the numerous canals that invite boat tours. Visitors can cruise along the canals and admire the historic architecture of the brick buildings, which are heavily influenced by the Dutch style. Stand-up paddling on the canals is also a popular activity.
