Close to the Notre-dame-des-Carmes church, this granite and bronze monument represents five generations of women wearing the famous bigoudènes. This traditional headdress, which has become an icon of Brittany, was a ceremonial headdress. Today, we can still observe them during fairs and other fest-noz (typical Breton festivals).

The monument, made of granite and bronze by the sculptor François Bazin in 1931, shows Bigoudènes in the five ages of his life: the grandmother, the mother, the sister, the young girl and the granddaughter. The men are absent from this sculpture and it is the fear of waiting, the sadness and the resignation that can be read on the faces of these five women. On either side of the granite block, two bronze reliefs illustrate scenes from Celtic mythology.
