The "red triangle" is the designation for a 9.1 kilometer walk on the Platwijers and Wijvenheide, where you can board at Heidestrand (close to the watchtower and birdwatching huts) or at Paalsteen. All information about that walk, which is, of course, indicated with signs with a red triangle on wandeleninlimburg.be/nl/routes/3377858

You also pass a lot of fish ponds and other landscape elements between the two pointer areas, such as agricultural areas, forests and more. There are also some smaller lanes and stretches of tarmac.

This long route takes you with the ponds of Wijvenheide and the Platwijers through the heart of De Wijers. You literally walk on the dikes of dozens of ponds. You may even hear the rare bittern calling. Be sure to stop at one of the bird watching huts and information walls, where you can get to know the birds of De Wijers in a playful way. Or climb the lookout tower and discover De Wijers from a bird's eye view.
