"Forever Marilyn" is back in Palm Springs! Her new home is at the corner of Museum Way and Belardo Road. Seward Johnson's 26-foot-tall sculpture was a tourist phenomenon during its first appearance in Palm Springs (2012–2014). Marilyn Monroe has a rich history with Palm Springs, beginning in 1949 when she was discovered at Charlie Farrell's Racquet Club by William Morris talent agent Johnny Hyde.

The Downtown Palm Canyon Drive – Picnic Area and Viewpoint loop from Palm Springs offers a surprisingly rugged desert experience right on the edge of the city. You'll quickly trade the urban landscape for steep, rocky terrain, climbing through classic desert mountain scenery. The highlight is undoubtedly the panoramic view of Palm Springs and the Coachella Valley from the picnic area at the summit, a well-earned reward for your efforts.
This difficult 6.5-mile (10.5 km) hike involves a substantial 955 feet (291 metres) of elevation gain, typically taking around 3 hours and 31 minutes. Access is convenient from the downtown area, often starting near the Palm Springs Art Museum. Be prepared for a challenging ascent and ensure you carry ample water, especially during warmer periods.
This route is a fantastic way to experience the dramatic desert landscape and gain a unique perspective over Palm Springs without venturing far from town.
