Unfortunately, Forestry England has designated the woods as a Site of Special Scientific Interest. This means that mountain biking and trail building is not allowed in the wood. It’s status as a SSSI makes this a criminal offence. Tree trunks have been placed mid-trail to discourage mtb's.

Not sure if I just got a bit lost here but some of the paths are definitely more suited to MTB. Doable on a gravel bike though with some challenging off road climbs. Lovely area to cycle round but a mountain bike is needed to make the most of the fun. Prepare to get off and push close to the top of the woods - the "path" shares its route with a small stream!

You can easily while away hours in these woods as there are many trails that intersect the main gravel track through the middle. Pretty steep at times, it gets really muddy here in the winter.
