Hiking

The high ridge along the edge of the Wekeromse Zand was formed by farmers in earlier centuries planting trees to halt the advancing drifting sand. Only with the large-scale planting of pines at the end of the 19th and beginning of the 20th century was the drifting sand on the Velwe controlled.
