    Hiking

Marlette Creek Trail to Marlette Lake loop

    610m

Embark on the Marlette Creek Trail to Marlette Lake loop, a moderate hike spanning 8.6 miles (13.9 km) with an elevation gain of 2010 feet (613 metres). You can expect to complete this journey in about 4 hours and 26 minutes. The route offers diverse terrain, leading you through meadows vibrant with wildflowers in spring and aspen groves that turn golden in autumn, before reaching the pristine, shimmering waters of Marlette Lake, a perfect spot for a well-deserved break.

When planning your visit, be aware that while the trail is rated moderate, the altitude and a long, gradual climb can make it strenuous, especially if you are less experienced. The path can also become sandy during summer months. You will share sections of the trail with mountain bikers and horseback riders, so stay alert to your surroundings. Parking is generally available near Spooner Lake, which serves as a common starting point for this adventure.

This loop is notable for its blend of natural beauty and historical elements. As you hike, you will follow a creek for several miles, crossing three bridges along the way. Keep an eye out for remnants of the past, such as old log piles and a stone chimney, which add a unique character to the scenic views you will encounter throughout the journey.
