    Hiking

Beautiful valley accessible on foot, but also by bike. The road is initially flat, but then the climb becomes demanding.

Embark on a moderate hike through the wild Valle delle Messi, leading you to the stunning Lago Nero within Stelvio National Park. This route covers 6.7 miles (10.8 km) and involves a significant elevation gain of 2570 feet (783 metres), typically taking around 4 hours and 54 minutes to complete. As you follow the path, you will traverse a gravel road alongside the Frigidolfo stream, passing charming stone huts and crossing wooden bridges. The scenery transforms as you climb, culminating in the beautiful reflections of the surrounding peaks in Lago Nero's dark waters, offering a truly immersive experience in nature.

To begin your adventure, head to the Sant'Apollonia parking area in Ponte di Legno, which serves as the trailhead for this journey. Be aware that parking at Sant'Apollonia is paid, so plan accordingly for your visit. The area also provides picnic facilities, making it a convenient spot to prepare for your hike or relax afterward. Starting early in the day is advisable to fully enjoy the trail and allow ample time for the return trip.

This trail is celebrated as one of the most beautiful hiking experiences in the Camonica Valley region, set within the protected wilderness of Stelvio National Park. The valley's rich flora and fauna make it a prime location for wildlife spotting; keep an eye out for deer, roe deer, chamois, and marmots. Beyond Lago Nero, you have the option to extend your hike to Bivacco Linge or descend past waterfalls to Rifugio Valmalza, offering additional opportunities for exploration and rest.
