Hiking

The Kornhaus building was rebuilt after the last major fire in the city in 1798 according to plans by the Karlsruhe architect Friedrich Weinbrenner (1766-1826). Stone blocks from the tower at the Färbertor, one of the four medieval town gates of Gernsbach, were used. It is mentioned as early as 1471 as a department store for the grain and fruit market. Throughout its history, it has not only been the mayor's office, but also housed a large number of public institutions. Today it is leased.
