At the southernmost point of Lake Garda, the waters narrow and form the beginning of the course of the river Mincio and mark the border between Veneto and Lombardy, until they mix with the waters of the Po 75 km further south. The river has great importance for Lake Garda: several armies have faced each other in fierce battles at this natural barrier over the centuries. Every year this event is commemorated with beautiful historical re-enactments.
