The most important connecting route between the Walle district and the allotment gardens and recreational areas in the green west of Bremen is the Mäusetunnel, which connects Hagenweg and Almatastraße. Until its renovation last year by the ASV (Association of German Railways), Deutsche Bahn (German Railways), and the Walle Advisory Board, the pedestrian and bicycle underpass under the railway tracks was considered a place of fear. Low ceilings and poor lighting prevented an inviting and safe approach to the local recreation area.
In the summer of 2020, the completed and long-awaited Mäusetunnel path connection was finally officially opened.
