Kufstein "Pearl of Tyrol" in front of the Old Town
Artwork by Isidor Winkler on Römerhofgasse
Do you know the pearl, the pearl of Tyrol, the little town of Kufstein, you surely know it, surrounded by mountains, so peaceful and still, yes, that is Kufstein, there on the green Inn River…

Karl Ganzer wrote the lyrics to the famous Kufstein song.
Karl Ganzer was a musical autodidact who had never received any musical training and never wrote musical notation until the end of his life. Music was in his blood. From a young age he joined musicians in restaurants with his Styrian harmonica and played with them. By listening and playing along, he acquired an extensive repertoire.
A monument was erected here on the Inn in his honor.
