The Franco-Prussian War from 1870 to 1871 was a military conflict between France on the one hand and the North German Confederation under the leadership of Prussia and the southern German states Bavaria, Württemberg, Baden and Hesse-Darmstadt, allied with it, on the other hand. The trigger for the war was the dispute between France and Prussia over the Spanish candidacy for the throne of Prince Leopold of Hohenzollern-Sigmaringen. On July 19, 1870, France declared war on Prussia. Contrary to the expectations of the French Emperor, the four southern German states entered the war. Meanwhile, the other European powers remained neutral.

As a memorial to the many dead, such memorials or war memorials are still very important today. "Now, Lord, let your servant go in peace, as you said." However, the people who are commemorated here did not divorce in peace, but became victims of war and tyranny.
Many of the places and monuments that you come across along the way are evidence of the horrors of war and tyranny, which is still relevant and relevant today. They all have two essential functions, anew for each generation:
-1- Commemorate and remember the victims
-2- Remind to keep the peace
