At the time of demolition, however, the building could no longer show anything of the "glory days" when Kaiser Wilhelm I still spent the night in its rooms.
On his way to Bad Gastein in 1876, the monarch stayed in the so-called "Old Bath"; Since it didn't stop at just this one time and the house was able to record seven further stays by the emperor, it was officially named "Kaiserbad" in 1882.

In 1700, councilor Wolff Jakob Ruedorffer had the spring captured and channeled into his house, which was located near Loreto. Very soon the property became a spa. In 1889, the "Kaiserbad" was elevated to the status of a "first-class spa and water facility", in which the Kneipp method was primarily used.
Its use as a military hospital during the First World War and a fire in 1917 marked the beginning of the bath's decline. In 1960, the OVB reported on the conditions in the building, which had now become a shelter for the poor, which made renovation urgently necessary.
