An account book from 1652 reveals that Heinrich and Jacob were brothers. In 1664, the two place names Heinrichsgrundt and Jacobsthael were used for the first time as location names. Since the Jakobsthal glassworks primarily produced glass buttons, it was popularly called Knöpphütte. In 1648, the master glassmaker registered this name.
