Embark on the Winterfold Heath via Jelly's Hollow loop, a moderate hike that takes you through the diverse landscapes of the Surrey Hills. This route spans 5.6 miles (9.1 km) and involves an elevation gain of 587 feet (179 metres), typically completed in about 2 hours and 32 minutes. You will experience a mix of dense forests and open heathland, offering a refreshing escape into the countryside. Look forward to panoramic views from high points like Pitch Hill and Reynards Hill, which extend all the way to the South Downs. The trail also guides you through the distinctive steep gully of Jelly's Hollow, adding an interesting geological feature to your journey.

Before you set out, be aware that the trail includes some steep climbs and descents, so a good level of fitness and sure-footedness will enhance your experience. While much of the path remains dry, certain sections, particularly along the Greensand Way and after Lapscombe Lakes, can become quite muddy, especially after heavy rainfall. Planning your visit during drier periods or wearing appropriate waterproof footwear is advisable to ensure a comfortable hike.

This trail offers more than just natural beauty; it also features the unique Perspectives Sculpture, providing a secluded spot with further views of the South Downs. The varied terrain, from dense woodland to open heathland, makes it a notable route within the Surrey Hills National Landscape. It is an excellent choice if you are seeking a moderate challenge with rewarding vistas and interesting features.
