The Glorieta del Pintor Sorolla (formerly known as Church Square or Church Glorieta) has been named after the Valencian painter Joaquín Sorolla since the 1960s. Construction of the temple on its west side began in 1842 and would not be completed until 1856 The temple was destroyed in 1936 and rebuilt between 1942 and 1950 by a similar one, neoclassical, the work of José María Garma Zubizarreta.6 The chronicler Pedro de Répide says that the temple was originally dedicated to La Concepción, as an annex to the parish of San José.
