Here is the oldest and largest beech avenue in northern Germany. The 300 meter long avenue has been placed under special protection by the then district administrator since 1939.
Due to a lack of enzyme, the leaves develop red leaves instead of the typical green leaf color. Thanks to this gene mutation, the avenue is characterized by a wonderful play of colors, especially in spring.
