The Church of Our Savior is Esbjerg's oldest true city church. It was built in 1887 and expanded with side aisles in 1896; the church's original name was Esbjerg Kirke.
In 1928, the church was restored and decorated with paintings by Ole Söndergaard. Also in 1928, the church received a new organ (Marcussen) with woodcuts by Erik Pedersen. The church was extensively restored in 2000 and seats approximately 700 people.
