The Hochstädter Obertor dates back to the end of the 16th century and is part of the historic city fortifications. Coming from the Hohe Straße or from Wachenbuchen, the gate leads into the cobblestone main street with its numerous half-timbered houses. In the immediate vicinity of the upper gate is the church of St. Kilian, built as a fortified church, dating back to the time before the first millennium.
