Hiking

The most important sight of Obermauern is the pilgrimage church Maria Schnee. The late Gothic building was erected around 1456, but also contains early Gothic and possibly even older parts of a previous church. The pilgrimage church also received its special importance from the rich, Gothic fresco decoration with the Passion cycle. Further frescoes show the childhood story of Jesus, scenes from the life of his mother Maria and the martyrdom of St. Sebastian.
