The patronage of "Maria (or Mariä) Himmelfahrt" of this Schramberg church refers to one of the many memorial or festival days in honor of the Mother of God Mary. It goes back to the feast of her bodily assumption into heaven, which the church celebrates annually on August 15th.
In many rural areas it is customary for the population to collect bundles of herbs (called "Kruggweusch" in the Rhenish dialect) on this day and to bless them in the festival service.

Hiking
St. Nicholas Church was demolished in 1972. The tower with the onion dome built in 1716 has been preserved and connects the St. Maria Church via the church forecourt. The church is definitely worth a visit, and concerts or church services are also recommended to experience the sound of the Walcker organ. The chancel was designed by the Rottweiler steel sculptor Erich Hauser (1930-2004).
