183 soldiers of the German army rest in the cemetery. They all fell on a single day – August 28, 1914 – during exceptionally bloody and brutal fighting for the village of Drwęck, waged against the advancing Russian army of General Samsonov. At the very top of the structure, on a stone wall (a so-called pseudo-bastion), stands a massive, several-meter-high wooden cross.
