The pass offers a panoramic view of the Slovak Bieszczady Mountains (Bukovské Vierchów).
The road running through it was used as a crossing between Poland and Hungary from the 16th century. From September 1939 onwards it was the only road crossing between Hungary and the General Government.
On the eastern side of the pass there are traces of fortifications of the Bar Confederation and positions from World War II.
