This memorial commemorates almost 4,000 British soldiers who died in the Aisne and Marne battles of 1918 and have no known grave. It was designed by G.H. Holt and V.O. Rees, with sculpture by Eric Kennington. It symbolises the heavy losses suffered by the British IX and XXII Corps during the German spring offensives 1 2.
