The Papenburg Meyer-Werft relocated in the 1980s, leaving behind a group of halls that were acquired by the city of Papenburg and converted into the Forum Alte Werft cultural center. On the outside area, the former harbor crane was preserved as a technical monument. The smaller old crane from 1883 is also preserved here as a monument.
