Hiking

When the northern side of the Saale, today's Neustadt, was built on in the Gründerzeit, the builders planned not only to build a large number of apartments and commercial buildings, but also to build a church at the fork from Merseburger Straße to Tagewerbener Straße. But the need for a new place of worship didn't seem to be that great anymore, so the project was stopped at the planning stage. Instead, a small park was built on this site, with a fountain built in the center.

In GDR times, Cinderella was missing and the fountain was only planted.

Cycling

The fountain was built in 1910. The motif of the fairy tale Cinderella was chosen to represent the connection between the city and its shoe history.
