On August 5, 1951, the second pioneer railway of the former GDR was put into operation in Leipzig. On her circuit she covers a distance of 1.9 km. There is a train station and three stops. From the beginning of April until the end of October, the park railway, a 381 mm gauge mini track, runs through meadows and through densely wooded stretches around the idyllic Auensee on weekdays, Sundays and public holidays. This lake was built in 1909 from a gravel pit, which provided material for the construction of Leipzig Central Station.
