The Reformed Church of Scheemda (also called Scheemder Church) was built in 1515 after the Dutch village was moved due to the advancing Dollard. The foundations of the previous 13th-century church and tower are located near the A7 and were uncovered between 1988 and 1989. This former location of the church is known as the 'Ol Kerkhof'.
