Base Brown is a Wainwright fell close to the end of Borrowdale. It's included in Alfred Wainwright's Western fells guidebook but it's on the edge closest to the centre of the Lake District National Park. I visited in an unseasonably hail storm in the middle of May 2021 and the surrounding higher fells were covered in snow!

Base Brown is an interesting one depending on the route you take up. It is also very boggy on the top

Did base Base Brown as my last Wainwright on a route from Stuart Marshall's book taking in Grey Knotts, Brandreth, Great Gable, Green Gable and Base Brown. Superb outing! Quite steep and awkward to descend to Seathwaite Farm from here though.
