In the Peasants' War in 1525 it was destroyed together with the village as punishment for the rebellious farmers on the Letzenberg (Malscher Haufen).
In 1573 it was rebuilt by the Vogt of Kislau and extensively renovated by the municipality in 1989-91.

Later an inn was also housed here, but it was no longer in operation in 2024.
