Mountaineering

At the end of the war, Italian Alpine soldiers captured the Helm. Although the Sillian section was able to initially regain the hut after negotiations with the military, with the final demarcation of the border on October 26, 1920, the Helmhaus was now located on Italian territory and became property of the Italian state in 1925. Since then, the border has run directly along the north wall of the building. In the following decades, the hut was initially used as a customs house, later falling into disuse, and has belonged to the province of South Tyrol since 1999.
