The Lobacher Bach is formed from the original (large) and small Burgbach streams. Over the years, the former was renamed Lobach, and the smaller Burgbach stream was renamed Vieringhauser Bach (Vierkeser Beek). The Lobach, the main stream, is given as 1.5 kilometers long in its lower section and 1.1 kilometers long in its upper section up to the Vieringhauser Bach. Thus, the Lobach itself is 2.6 kilometers long before flowing into the Eschbach.

Four hammers and cottages once stood on the Vieringhauser Bach and nine on the Lobach, making a total of 13 in the entire Hammertal valley.

The stream has a total length of 4.2 kilometers, a catchment area of 8.44 square kilometers, twelve mouth waters, flows through a popular, wooded recreational area on the southern edge of Remscheid, and is the most important tributary of the Eschbach, which flows into the Wupper at Solingen-Unterburg.
