Poppel is a village / district of the municipality of Ravels.

There is a church with a tower from the 16th century. Poppel used to be an independent municipality, which has been added to the municipality of Ravels. The monumental former town hall from 1908 still reminds of this independence.

In 1908 Poppel got its town hall. It became a particularly beautiful composition of brick and the then fashionable natural stone decorative bands. The stepped gable and the high-placed entrance gate are characteristic of the Flemish Neo-Renaissance style. The local history museum is located in this beautiful old town hall.

Cycling

Former town hall was built between 1903 and 1905. The architect was J Teaymans. In 1974 the old town hall was rebuilt and restored by M van der Voort. In the beginning, the fire brigade, police officer and prison were located on the bottom floor.
