The Great Gorgia is a spectacular "V" incision in deposits of glacial origin, induced by linear erosive processes, in the riverbed of the Prebec stream.
Its etymology (the Grën Górge = the great gorge) derives from the exceptional dimensions of this gash about 600 m long, 140 m wide and up to 60-70 m deep.
According to a historical source, the Great Gorgia was formed during a flood event in the 15th century.
