This chapel was built by the Brabant student guild, who went into hiding in the Hiersenhof country house during World War II.

Next to the gate of the Hiersenhof estate, at the entrance on the public road, there is a chapel built in 1942, dedicated to Our Lady Queen of Peace. This chapel was built by a student guild that was on camp here.

The construction of the chapel took on a certain meaning because Jan de Quay had been taken hostage at that time and it was not clear how things would develop further. There was even a threat of execution. Incidentally, this threat was averted at the consecration of the chapel on 15 August 1942 (Assumption of Mary).

Beautiful small Maria chapel. The Maria chapel was built during a summer camp of the Brabant Student Guild in 1942, on the estate of Prof. Dr. J.E. de Quay, the Hiersenhof in Beers.
A ‘pilgrimage’ of the local parish goes to the Maria chapel every year around 15 August; the Nijmegen Four Days Marches are also a highlight for the cult. The chapel is visited intensively every day.
