The bascule bridge over the eastern station canal unfortunately no longer “works”. Although it was extensively renovated in 2016, the counterweight box and the roll-off segments were only retained for monument protection reasons.

Hiking

The historic "Eastern Railway Station Canal Bascule Bridge" leads over the canal of the same name in Harburg's inland port. The originally foldable bridge has been fixed for years and has now been replaced by a new permanent structure. For monument protection reasons, the counterweight box and the roll-off segments were refurbished and integrated into the new structure in order to preserve the historical appearance.
