The former owners of the Niedergurig manor were the Counts of Lützelburg, Reder, and Lüttichau. Afterwards, it came into the possession of the Countess of Schönburg-Forderglauchau. The estate formerly included two distilleries and a brewery.

The manor with its picturesque mill, whose residential building (similar to the one in Radibor) was demolished in 1950 for ideological reasons, dates back to an old water-fortified complex, of which a vaulted building, considered a chapel, is still preserved in the farm area today. It still features the Baroque layout with a Cour d’honneur, cavalier house, and gatehouse, as well as wing buildings and corner pavilions on an island in the Spree. After the Counts of Wallwitz were expropriated in 1945, the castle island is now owned by the Dahmen-Wassenberg family from the Lower Rhine.

First mentioned as a knight's seat in 1363, which dates back to a former moated castle.
The palace was built around 1720 under Count Anton von Lützelburg as a summer residence. Since 1901, the manor with its palace has been in the possession of the Counts of Wallwitz.
