At the beginning of 2002, the steel arch bridge, which was built almost 100 years ago and the last in Heidelberg and is a listed building, was demolished. In 2003 the new, wider bridge was completed. Some steel elements of the old bridge have been integrated into the new architecture and can be seen below.
