Europe's largest fish ladder
... is a model for success: It was put into operation on 1 August 2010 - since then, around 1.7 million animals have used the ascent assistance; In the meantime, 50 different species have been detected. At the Fish Passage symposium in Groningen in June 2015, Europe's largest fish ladder, which is fully geared to the needs of fish, received recognition as the "Outstanding Project in Fisheries & Ecohydrology".

The new fish ladder was built by Vattenfall as an ecological compensation for the power plant Moorburg. She is very successful and was awarded in 2015. Visually, it does not look as original as the old one, but that's not the point.

This fish ladder also pleased a seal in 2014, but he had to return to the North Sea.

Beautiful view. The bike path is quite narrow, but if you want to enjoy the view, you should go a little slower here anyway.
