Hiking
In 1822, a strelitzia bloomed for the first time in Germany in the princely orangery in the castle gardens in Neustrelitz. The strelitzia has been the city flower of Neustrelitz since 1995.
With the support of a citizens' association, the artist René Winter created a stainless steel sculpture of the strelitzia in 2008, which was erected as a landmark of the city not far from the castle gardens and which can still be admired today.
