At this vantage point there is a very informative board about the history of Rangsdorf Airport: from the Reichssportfeld in 1936 and use by famous pilots such as Uhde and Elly Beinhorn and Heinz Rühmann, about use by the Wehrmacht and after 1945 by the Soviet Army. One of the most important chapters is Claus von Stauffenberg's flight to Wolfsschanze on July 20, 1944, where he carried out the -not successful- assassination attempt on Hitler.
