The former Clausthal office building was the administrative building for all mining matters and at the same time the official seat of the miner. The representative office building is located directly opposite the Market Church of the Holy Spirit, which is in the center of the historic market square. Thus secular and ecclesiastical power faced each other in the heart of Clausthal. The entrance hall and stairwell are open

Hiking

Office building of the State Office for Mining, Energy, and Geology, formerly the Upper Mining Authority. This building was constructed between 1726 and 1730 under the leadership of mining captain Heinrich Albert von dem Busche, replacing the previous building that had burned down in 1725. Over the centuries, many important figures have been guests at the office building, including Johann Wolfgang von Goethe in 1777 during his first trip to the Harz Mountains.
