Langendreer Manor, like many Westphalian aristocratic estates, was originally a farm. It was first mentioned around 884. Until the 15th century, it was the ancestral seat of the Schulten von Dreer family. Little remains of the former moated castle; the manor house was demolished in 1908.

A red-paved area, bordered by a beech hedge, marks the former site of the main building.

Today, a school complex occupies the grounds. The LWL (Westphalian State Association of Schools) school administration is located in the longhouse, built of quarry stone with a stepped gable.

The Langendreer house in the Bochum district of the same name was first mentioned around 884. Not much is left of the former moated castle, as the manor house was demolished in 1908.
Since 1969, the Langendreer building has been owned by the Regional Association of Westphalia-Lippe, which now runs three special needs schools for children and young people on the site (- physical and motor development, - language, - hearing and communication for deaf children).
