Hiking

In the Munsterbos along the Weerstandspad in Munsterbilzen and opposite the Sint-Amorkapel, there was an enormous beech until 2021. It was a tree that was left over from the forest exploitation and thus had the opportunity to grow into an upright common beech with a trunk circumference of 451 cm, a branch-free trunk of 10 meters and a crown diameter of 26 meters. The 200-year-old red beech was dying and could not be saved due to its age and enormous drought. Its trunk and clipped branches have been left standing as a memento.
